A statement from Women in Law Japan’s Executive Committee

As leaders of an organization whose core mission includes empowering women, we are saddened by the devastating ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that significantly limits women’s rights to bodily autonomy and freedom to make their own deeply personal choices.

We stand in solidarity with women and their allies around the world who are speaking up and taking action in response to this significant infringement on women’s rights and step backwards for gender equality.

As a diverse group of women lawyers from around the world, we remain committed to WILJ’s mission of inspiring, connecting, and empowering women in the legal community in Japan.

Please note that this statement represents the personal views of the WILJ Executive Committee in our individual capacities. We do not speak for all members and supporters of WILJ, or for any of the firms or companies with which we are affiliated.
