Mindy Allen
Mindy is a Director in the legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, where she works with law firms to identify talented bengoshi and gaiben associates to join their practices, acts as a career advisor to associates throughout their careers, and assists corporate clients looking to fill in-house positions. Mindy began her legal career in 2010 in New York after graduating from Columbia with a B.A. and M.A. and earning her law degree from Stanford. Since relocating to Tokyo in 2014, Mindy has practiced at US and Japanese law firms and spent several years as a senior counsel in the legal department of a major Japanese trading house. She was most recently a Counsel at southgate, a Tokyo-based boutique law firm focused on cross-border transactions involving Japan, before she transitioned to legal recruiting. Mindy is also a part-time lecturer at Keio University, where she teaches a course on legal research and writing. After enjoying participating in WILJ events for the past five years, Mindy is now excited to take on a more active role as an executive committee member. She is passionate about workplace equality, sustainable work practices, connecting with other professional women, rescue dogs and baking.
